1 DAY HARLEY DAY TOUR ATHENS RIVIERA
Itinerary:
Departing from Glyfada (pick up the bikes from our office), ride by the beautiful coast line of Athens Riviera, all the way to the temple of Poseidon in Sounio. Begin the tour with a wonderful ride along the scenic coastal road which affords a splendid view of the Saronic Gulf, passing through some of Athens most beautiful suburbs (Voula, Vouliagmeni, Varkiza, Anavyssos, etc). As we approach Cape Sounio, it rises like a sheer cliff out of the sea. There you will visit the 5th century B.C. Temple of Poseidon with one of the most breathtaking panoramic views in the world(on a clear day you can see at least seven islands).The precipice is a sheer 197 foot drop to the sea.Land masses to the west stand out in sharp profile: the island of Aegina backed by the mountains of the Peloponnese. The beauty of the surviving Doric columns has inspired many poets, including Lord Byron who carved his name on one of the columns.
After a visit at the Archaeological Site and a short stop for photos, we will continue to the port of Lavrio. Short stop for refreshment at the central square of Lavrio, overlooking the sea. Our final stop will the little town of Porto Rafti. Enjoy your meal at one of the many small taverns, relaxing by the blue waters of the nearby beach. Return to Glyfada (drop off of the bikes).
